Dr. George F. Price

About

Data Scientist, previously employed at Niche Health & Social Care Consulting, specialising in capacity and demand modelling, strategic analytics, and interactive dashboard development to support NHS services across the UK. Projects focus on transforming healthcare data into actionable insights that improve patient care and system efficiency.

Completed a PhD in Applied Mathematics at The University of Manchester, with research centred on modelling solute transport through spatially complex domains with inherently random structures. Primary applications arise in biological systems such as the human placenta and lungs. By adopting an alternative homogenisation approach, a framework was developed for quantifying uncertainty in net solute transfer in physiological transport models. The research focused on identifying limiting regimes in which an advection–uptake balance exists at the microscale while an advection–diffusion balance governs the macroscale, producing non-smooth concentration fields and internal boundary layers. The thesis was titled “Modelling of Solute Transport Past a Disordered Uptake Field” and supervised by Prof. Oliver E. Jensen and Dr. Igor L. Chernyavsky.

Experience includes co-organising the weekly Informal Applied Seminar for postgraduate researchers and serving as treasurer for the Manchester SIAM-IMA Student Chapter, promoting applied mathematics and computational science through student-led events and initiatives.

Awarded a Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship with Distinction in 2024, with additional training in data governance, machine learning, cloud-based analytics, and data visualisation using SQL, Python, R, Azure, and Power BI.
